The Abu Dhabi Police has busted a car scam syndicate with the arrest of the criminal gang’s 54 members, who allegedly defrauded investors of up to Dh1.3 billion.

Nestlé officially pulled the curtains down to present its newest multi-million dirham factory over in Dubai south with Shaikh Ahmad Bin Saeed Al Maktoum, President of Dubai Aviation Authority, Chairman of Dubai Airports, and Chairman and Chief Executive of Emirates Airline and Group doing the honors.

The manufacturing plant, the third largest in the UAE, is Nestle’s 18th installment in the Middle East. And up to 22,000 tons of halal-certified coffee products and Maggi soups and mixes will be manufactured annually by this super factory.

Aside from being a mega produce hub, the company will be a host to 340 workers. Besides this, Justin Wilshaw, Senior Vice-President at Dubai South indicated that since its conception, it has generated more than 1,000 jobs and assisted in establishing Dubai South as a primary food hub in the region.

When asked why they chose Dubai as the site for their latest factory, Yves Manghardt, Chairman and CEO of Nestle Middle East said “We’ve been in the region for more than 80 years,” and “have always found the UAE and Dubai, in particular, to be stable and a very positive business environment.”

Expansion plans in the UAE are also in the works, “By the end of next year, you can expect a new launch a bit more south and closer to Abu Dhabi,” Manghardt indicated.
